AMA REQUIREMENTS

1 A valid membership in the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) is mandatory for all pilots using the field, with the exception of student pilots enrolled in the AMA Intro Pilot Program and under the control of an instructor.

2. The AMA Safety Code shall apply to all aircraft and pilots using the facility.

ALTITUDE RESTRICTION, FLIGHT BOUNDARIES

1. The terms of our use permit require that we do not exceed 400 feet of altitude. It is mandatory that all pilots avoid any proximity to full scale aircraft. Full scale aircraft always have the right of way, regardless of their altitude or position! The use of a spatter to warn of approaching aircraft is strongly encouraged.

2. The yellow concrete bumpers at the flight line constitute the "dead line", and all flying shall be kept to the north of this line and its extension both east and west.

FLIGHT OPERATIONS

1. All pilots must fly from one of the five marked pilot stations.

2. Takeoffs and landings shall be made in the direction of the traffic indicator arrow, which is to be set pointing into the wind, if any. Dead stick landings may be made from either direction and have priority over all other traffic.

3. As in full scale operation, the runway center line is to be used as a guide for takeoffs and landings. Landing aircraft have priority over aircraft taxiing or taking off.

4. High speed passes are not allowed over the runway. Touch and goes, slow fly by's and practice landing approaches by students are allowed.

5. Verbally announce landings, touch and goes, or intent to cross the runway to retrieve a model, so others are aware of your intent.

6. Taxiing is not allowed in the pit area or beyond the flight station aprons.

7. Prolonged running of engines in the pit area is discouraged. An engine test area has been provided in the parking lot.

RADIO AND FREQUENCY CONTROL

1. All radios must meet 1991 narrowband guidelines and operate on AMA authorized frequencies.

2. All transmitters shall be turned off and stored in the impound area when not in use, and may not be turned on without the proper frequency pin. When the pin is taken from the frequency board, the users valid AMA card must be inserted in the appropriate slot.

3. Do not control a frequency pin for more than twenty (20) minutes as a courtesy to your fellow members.

NOISE CONTROL

1. Mufflers or tuned pipes must be used on all engines over.15 displacement, and the use of efficient mufflers, soft mounted engines and high pitched props are encouraged to reduce noise.

2. All engine runs in excess of sixty (60) seconds must meet the sound limit of 100db at three (3) meters.

3. All gas and glow engines are not to be started before 7:00 a.m. because of the surrounding communities. Electric engines are exempt.
